Untitled without any sort of unifying theme
From 1984, which I recently started reading online and had to buy a copy of yesterday once I finally found a store that carried books in English:
He wondered vaguely whether in the abolished past it had been a normal experience to lie in bed like this, in the cool of a summer evening, a man and a woman with no clothes on, making love when they chose, talking of what they chose, not feeling any compulsion to get up, simply lying there and listening to peaceful sounds outside. Surely there could never have been a time when that seemed ordinary?
As far as I'm concerned, that has always been and will always be extraordinary, almost unmatchable. Unfortunately it is probably not something I'll be able to experience in Japan, for a couple of reasons: First of all, the summer evenings here are hot as fuck, and second, I am unable to converse intelligently in Japanese regarding any topics other than wiring harnesses and Miyamoto Musashi, which are hardly appropriate for an intimate conversation (with anyone I'd want to be intimate with at any rate). Kuso! Oh well, that's why the Party invented aeroplanes, right? ... wrong.
Anyway, originally I claimed that I was going to use this blog to keep track of my irregular sleeping habits, which have returned with a vengeance. For the past 6 days or so I've been falling asleep early in the evening and then waking up in the middle of the night, and then staying up till work in the morning, or in today's case, now. Tonight I got up at 3AM, ironed my work uniforms, practiced hacking in the park (which was kind of odd/annoying because there was someone standing there watching me the whole time .. fucking weirdo!), read some more 1984, went for a walk, made a bad-ass egg/tofu omelette, and now I'm sitting here thinking about the rest of the day, which will entail .. hold on, I need to start a new fucking sentence. Today I'm going to pick up a new stereo since I fried my little boombox thing in Singapore .. I'm torn between this one and this one, but will probably go with the Sony, even though I hate the brand, because it's cheaper. So much for principles, eh? I dropped a 10000 Yen bill somewhere yesterday, so I've got to watch my wallet, or at least buy a wallet so I'll have one to watch. So anyway, I'll buy a stereo, record a couple minidiscs, and then head back to Nagoya (back since I was just there hanging out with some friends last night) for the ultimate test: finding this fucking Capoeira club.
It's only going to be a challenge because the directions on the website differ from the directions I got through a map site, and include instructions such as "walk for 10 minutes" in no specified direction. Maybe the club is actually a metaphor for a place inside my soul, that I can only find if I walk for 10 minutes? That would be lame. Anyway, as I usually do when given more than one slightly different set of directions, I intend to sort of combine/take the average of the two, even though I have no basis for believing this will work. You're probably already thinking this, but this could very well be the last time you ever hear from me. Mo ichido, kuso!!
