Cosas, cosas, cosas
This is an incredibly lame thing to do, but here's some thing from a letter I just typed to somebody (who does not read my blog). It's probably stuff I would have mentioned here at some point anyway.
I'm still flipping through Napalm and Silly Putty .. you know what my favorite part is so far (besides his assertation that golf is an elitist, arrogant, racist activity, which I wholeheartedly agree with)? Oddly, it's his rant against environmentalists, which is odd because I like to think I'm actually somewhat of a hippie. Anyway, if you recall, his point of view is that the earth has been around for so many hundreds of millions of years, and humans have been around for a measly few thousand. Do we really think we're capable of destroying the earth?? No, long after we're gone, which will only have been a few minutes in the span of the planet's lifetime, the earth will heal itself, since that's what it does, and all will be well. That's a perspective I've never heard before, so again, George Carlin is my fucking hero for thinking differently.

Hey, you know what? Inadvertently, lately I think I'm becoming more intimidating to people. Part of it is because of my job. As an engineer it's my duty to boss our technicians around, and originally I wasn't very good at it because I'm used to just doing things myself and not telling other people to do them. So I'd be like, "um, if you get time could you please do this thing, if it's not too much trouble?" but here, things won't get done if you approach them that way, so now I have this thing where I'm still polite about it but at the same time I project sort of a "just do it and don't give me any crap" persona. I don't know how I feel about that. The only time I like scaring people is in Capoeira. Saturday I played against a guy I'd never met before, and he just looked terrified of me the whole time. For some reason, that put a huge smile on my face. Who could possibly be scared of a guy like me throwing kicks at their head?
Anyway, for a quick update, I saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and was pleased to find myself able to mouth along with approximately half the dialogue. Then I saw Melt Banana the next evening, and was able to do the same thing while getting punched. This weekend also involved some CD-buying, Capoeira playing, footbagging/hackysacking/whatever I don't care what it's called anymore in various public places, and hanging out with 小林 (hereafter referred to as Special K) and Emily for the first time in at least a week, which is good, after all. Now I'm at work again but I don't seem to mind. Probably because I'm not actually doing anything ...

I'd be afraid if you came capoeira-ing at me.
Hell, I'm afraid that you might someday live out your dream of tearing my arm off and beating me to death with it.

When posting that last comment, I used google as my spell checker for 'capoeira' and came across this, which I'm sure you're probably aware of.
Long story short, I will henceforth refer to you as Maionese, as that is who most reminds me of you.

I'm telling you, I never had any such dream! You're thinking of Die By the Sword or something. "You hit like a kobold!"
