Starbucks Girl #4 gives me an obligatory "are you having a good day," and I respond with my usual shrug. She feigns sympathy and goes, "oh no, you aren't??" So I explain, "no, that was a shrug. It meant my day has not been remarkable one way or the other."
Maybe I should just say "yes, fine" from now on.
So, how about that local sports team?

Why not just tell her, you're not ready to commit to any meaningful conversation right now?
