I get work visa!
I will now exclude the "if I actually go" prefix when I talk about going to Japan! The only remaining question is whether I leave at the end of June or early July!
Time to start planning final visits. Let me know when you're free, everyone.

I'll be there until at least November or December 2006. It's not so long! And I'll be able to to come home for Christmas this year. Apparently I made it sound like I was moving there permanently. That is incorrect!

This is most excellent news! All of a sudden, you're going to be living in a place I'd where I'd want to come and visit you.

The guys at work are actually trying to scare me with speculations of the amount of crap I'm going to have to do over there. They're all like, "you're gonna be working till 9PM every night, 6 days a week, blah blah blah ..." but I am confident that I will be able to strike a balance, even if the working hours do become insane. If nothing else I can play the American card and tell them I have to be back at my apartment by 6 every night to pray at my shrine of George W Bush. Or, "I can't work on Saturday; I have to go blow up some other countries." I'm sure they'll understand that.
