Return of the Sith? What?
Xumbi's comments on Revenge of the Sith (hey, what exactly are they getting revenge for?) which he got to see a week before everyone else, including George Lucas:
The good:
- best opening sequence in a Star Wars movie, ever
- best light saber battles ever
- lots of people die
- incredibly fun to watch
- most of it made sense to me
The bad:
- Christopher Lee and Palpatine in CG jumping around and doing flips looks stupid
- there's about a half hour after the opening sequence that drags
- Obi Wan has some terrible one-liners
And the best part of the whole movie was this quote:
Anakin: "If you're not with me, then you are my enemy!"
Obi Wan: "Only the Sith deal in absolutes!"
(Take that Bush!!!!)
Another review can be found here. Sorry, Beastard, that I couldn't make it to the Phantom Menace Vomit theater this time. I threw up at home in remembrance. Well, not really. 1998 was the last time I ever did that!

That would have made more sense, but some people are still apparently asking how it was. Everyone's like, "I'd go see it, but I want to know what James thinks of it first!"

I would see The Machinist based on the principle that Christian Bale nearly killed himself for the role.
Also, this movie is supposed to be un(fucking)believable. You should get it and tell me how it is.

Was the plot of the Machinist inspired by your life during the Drexel years?
Why haven't you seen Sith yet, damn you?
Also - I picked up the new System of a Down album earlier this week - Mezmerize. I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on it, or are they too commercial/mainstream/far away from the sound of whatever else it is you listen to these days for you to care?
10:04 AM
I was going to do a post about this, but my opinion of Mesmerize can be summed up in 7 words:
MY COCK IS MUCH BIGGER THAN YOURS!
You know I like System of a Down, don't you? Don't you remember how much I listened to their first album at the end of freshman year? Perhaps you do not remember that. They would have been somewhat killed for me with the overplaying of Sugar and later Chop Suey, but the rest of their music more than made up for it.
The only thing I don't like about Mesmerize is that it's being called half of a double-disc set, with the other half called "Hypnotize," which comes out in the fall. Remember when double-discs meant you bought 2 discs at once, because they came out at the same time, in the same case even?
Anyway, yes, BYOB, Cigaro and Violent Pornography all kick my ass. I have yet to give the rest of it a good listen because I can't stop listening to those 3 in particular.
Plus the new Gorillaz is highly distracting. I think I like it better than the first one!

My girl, you know, she lashes out at me sometimes,
And I just fucking kick her, and then she’s o.k.
First hearing of them/their music from you is precisely why I asked. Just curious if your tastes had changed at all as far as they went.
Revenga and Violent Pornography are my favorite tracks thus far. This dual disc theory you mention, it almost explains why the album is only about 20 minutes long.
I didn't know Gorillaz had a new album!?
10:48 AM
P.S. - Is their self titled album worth purchasing? And what's the deal with Steal This Album! Is that an official album of theirs or some weird live compilation disc?
10:50 AM
my musical "taste" has grown more inclusive, not the other way around.
The new Gorillaz comes out next Tuesday. See, there's a group I would not have paid any attention to 5 years ago, and for this I am ashamed.
System of a Down's first album is seriously one of the best things ever. It is timeless. I'd get that before buying anything else, including food or gas. I read a rumour that Steal This Album was a bunch of songs that didn't make it into Toxicity, which would explain why it came out like 2 months afterward and why it was a really weird album, but not having heard the whole thing, Xumbi would be the guy to ask about that one.
