Jumping the Gay Shark

Did anyone catch that bullshit episode of the Simpsons last night where Homer married gay couples and then Marge's sister (I forget which one, but assume it was Selma) turned out to be a lesbian (wait, so why does she like MacGuyver so much??)? I just happened to catch it at someone's house, and I was not impressed. Here is why:

1) Oh good, another Homer-gets-a-wacky-job episode. I never get tired of those.
2) Marge-is-secretly-evil episodes also bother me.
3) Real subtle transition between Bart and Milhouse playing tricks on a guy, to Lisa blurting out "why doesn't Springfield legalize same-sex marriage to boost tourism?" That's some nice cohesive episode writing, right there.
4) Obligatory (seemingly forced) jabs at Fox, who I'm sure is shocked and appalled.
5) Most importantly, the fact that this was obviously an attempt on Fox's part to live up to their "fair and balanced" slogan by airing an episode so left-wing and, well, gay, that it seems like it was intended to trick people into forgetting that Fox is practically responsible for the re-election of the guy who intends to add anti-gay amendments to the fucking constitution.

Of course, I could be wrong. This episode could have been meant as a blow by the writers toward their oppressive Fox masters. I dunno. It just came off as phony. Plus, the only moral that could be derived from the end was that lesbians don't like men.

Oh yeah, and I thought Homer didn't like gay people unless they saved his life.

And where the hell was Smithers in this episode? What a cop-out!

All right, I'm done now. I should add that I haven't paid attention to the show in more than 6 years, so I have no frame of reference. I'm like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and starts asking questions. I should shut the fuck up!

It so jumped the shark way before this episode. Last night only confimed that the writers have become brain dead.

true, but now they are jumping the gay shark. Like in that show Ellen DeGeneres used to have!

I think it's silly that Lenny and Carl were acknowledged as being gay. It was funnier when it was never pointed out, and they were just creepy friends.

'There's nothing for me on that helicopter'

'I wouldn't say that'

'Carl Carlson!

gah, see, I never saw that one. I was kind of under the impression Lenny and Carl didn't like each other .. then again, like I said, I haven't been keeping up.
