先週末

ahh, see, now that's what a weekend should be like.

I was going to list it all out chronologically, but that'd take a while and if I spell it out in too much detail it might feel less impressive to me. So to summarize, Friday night I lifted for a while in the Vanderbilt gym (Friday nights in the gym are awesome, it's mostly puny freshman guys who don't yet have social lives .. I feel for you, dudes!), we (by "we" I am of course referring to my Nashville crew consisting of exactly 3 people) rented Koyaaniqatsi from some weird-ass place with a great foreign film selection called Spun, tried to watch that, fell asleep, woke up Saturday morning. The first half of Saturday was spent driving a U-Haul around helping Em and Jess move into their new place. I always like to say that helping people move is one of the few things I'm useful for. I like to say it because it's true!

Then comes the interesting part; Saturday evening was this event called Artrageous. It involves buying a ticket, receiving a yellow paper bracelet (with a big-ass "W" on it -- what the fuck??) and a map of all these art galleries all over Nashville, and then driving from gallery to gallery checking out da artz. At every gallery there were all kinds of drinks and hors d'oeuvrish food and, you know, art, and just lots of people checking everything out; it was a really cool atmosphere. I have kind of a hard time at art galleries because all I think the whole time is "damn it, I should be making stuff like this," since if I'd pursued what I actually want to do, I'd be an artist, not some engineer who sits around thinking about drawing all day. I know it's "not too late" but I have to come up with a plan and that's an entirely different story.

After the galleries closed (they were open from 6 to 9, which only gave us time to see like 3 and a half) there was the big event, the "after party" which took place in some giant-ass auditorium/arena type place. Most of the music was rather lame but the atmosphere was still great. You know those artsy types -- they craaaaazy! I did get hit on by a couple guys .. if Emily hadn't saved my ass that could've gotten pretty awkward. I was trying to be all modest as usual, but then the one guy says "I give you 2 thumbs up," and his friend goes, "and a snap!" That almost brought a tear to my eye; I feel like I'm somebody now.

Kobayashi-san and I had tried to play a little Capoeira at the after-party, and it didn't work out too well since every time he tried to do au batido he'd end up kicking some bystander, but we more than made up for that on Sunday. We didn't play that much but we went to the park determined to do some backflips. Oh wait, damn it, now I'm just going through the list of things I did, like I said I wasn't going to do. Meh .. anyway, we got pretty good at launching each other into the air in a manner that often allowed us to land on our feet as opposed to our faces, we went back and played some Guilty Gear (Guilty Gear XX #Reload, to be more specific, the best fighting game ever made with the possible exception of Samurai Shodown 4), and moved one more thing for Em. Then Em and I brought the U-Haul back, got some increíble Thai food, and then I must have driven back because I sure did wake up in Kentucky again this morning. I hate it when that happens ...
